how easy is it to change a oil sump gasket on a ford fiesta 1.4 diesel 2008
Drain off the oil first, then remove the sump bolts. Hey presto, The gasket it there, remove and refit new one, or bodge it with silicone sealant.
oil and a sump gasket
oil and filter change = 7lt .
Depends were the oil is coming from? Gasket seal blown? burst pipe? cracked oil sump etc......
Its a 13mm spanner that you require.
on the passengers side of the sump
Buy or make a suitable new gasket and enough oil to do an oil change, it is a good idea to change the filter too. Ensure you have the correct tools. Drain the oil and dispose of the oil responsibly. Undo the fastenings. Drop the oil pan/sump. Clean the adjoining surfaces and ensure they are not damaged. Lightly grease the gasket and fit to the oil pan/sump. Replace the fastenings to the correct torque. Replace the oil with the correct quantity.
Your piston rings and/or your cylinders are worn. Unburnt diesel will be blown past the rings into the sump.
Remove all the oil of the sump through drain plug. Open all the mounting bolts of oil sump. If required, tap the oil sump so that it comes out. Check on which surface (Block or Sump) the gasket is pasted. Remove the gasket from the block/sump. Clean both the surfaces. Put the gasket on the sump and hold the same with the help of 2 bolts located in crossed direction. Screw in the bolts slowly and after inserting 3-4 threads, you can tighten the bolts with spanner/ratchet. Mount all remaining bolts and tight the same in cross directions. At last torque the bolts to the specified torque value that too in cross directions. Recheck the same at last.
depending on where the oil is leaking from. sump gasket? rocker cover gasket? hoses? castings?
wash it
