unhook the lower radiator hose from the engine, and there it is... you just pull it out, put the new one in, hook your radiator hose back in and your done.
wheres the thermostat on a 2001 Oldsmobile aurora

The point at which the upper radiator hose connects to the engine is where the thermostat is normally located. You should see a dome shaped thermostat housing, held in place by 2 bolts. bottom radiator hose at water pump housing
top of intake or thermostat housing
Look at the engine end of the upper radiator hose
it is located in the thermostat housing which is at the upper end of the lower radiator hose (the larger hose connects the thermostat housing to the radiator next the left fan)
The thermostat on a 1997 Oldsmobile Aurora is located in the engine compartment, specifically on the engine block near the upper radiator hose. To access it, you will need to remove the hose that connects to the thermostat housing. The thermostat is housed within this assembly, which is typically secured by bolts. Be sure to allow the engine to cool before attempting any work in this area.
I have a 2001 OLds Aurora 4.0 and was quoted $5800.00 to change both head gaskets. Ouch! So I added sealer into rad hose and changed the thermostat seems o.k for now.
