It unscrews from the extension housing that is sticking out of the front end of the driver's side of the engine block on the V8s. On the 6 cyl cars, it's towards the back of the motor, but they both use the same sending unit, and it just unscrews. There is a hex right below the base of the fat part of the sending unit that takes a 9/16 open end wrench. If the car is a V8, and that car has Power Steering and/or air conditioning, access to the sending unit is kind of tight, but you don't have to actually remove anything else. Count on getting your hands pretty dirty, though.

Low of the proper amount of oil. Oil pump is defective. Oil pressure sending unit it defective. Gauge, if equipped, is defective.

Lower the Gas tank. Remove the sending unit/fuel pump from the tank and replace the unit. The sending unit and fuel pump come together.
