Get underneath the truck, and look at the back of the DEF tank. On the Volvos, the DEF filter isn't covered (like they are on the Kenworth trucks). The DEF filter is unscrewed with the box end of a 1-1/16 wrench... you should be able to look and immediately see where it fits... if you can't, you have no business even touching a wrench. I strongly recommend using a box end or combination wrench, and NOT a ratchet, as anything with moving parts will seize up if DEF gets on it and doesn't get washed off immediately.
The 2005 Volvo S40 only has an integrated fuel filter with the fuel pump in the tank. No additional external filter exists.

The fuel filter is in the gas tank, along with the pump. You will not be able to change this filter, unless you change the pump too.
Fuel filter is in the fuel tank under the fuel pump. You have to drop the tank and remove the pump assembly to change the filter.
Filter is built into the fuel tank and is part of the fuel pump. It is non-servicable.
Your pump and filter are rated at a certain psi. To change that you would have to change the pump and maybe the filter.
I have a 2004 ram 1500.I wanted to change the fuel filter and found out that it is on the fuel pump inside the gas tank
the fuel pump can not be cleaned, the only thing you can do is change the strainor on the bottom of the pump. the fuel filter is located on frame rail under the drivers seat.
Fuel filter is in the gas tank along with the fuel pump, I have to change mine out, making the truck run poorly. Waiting for a warmer day.
There is a skid plate under neath the truck that you need to remove then you will see the filterAnswerFuel PUMP is in the tank, fuel FILTER is under the truck on the driver's side right below driver's door.
Change the fuel filter first. If that doesn't help, change the fuel pump.
You can't. Dodge Dakotas use an integrated fuel pump/filter/level-sending-unit module located inside the fuel tank. To change the filter, you must replace the entire fuel pump module which requires either removal of the truck boxbed or the fuel tank.
