I just had this aggravating repair myself. To start off, I'm going to say I'm a female with little knowledge of cars. What I did was removed the wiper motor and it gave free access to the steering rack. It was relatively easy, just a bit time consuming. I was quoted $170 for this repair plus tax. The hose is 36.99 at autozone. Do it yourself and save some serious cash!

I just actually did this myself today. The easiest and most likely only way to change it is to, remove the brake proportion valve assembly from the brake booster. then with some patience remove the hose from the rack and pinion with a 18mm wrench. the removal from the reservoir is fairly easy, just use a 3/4" wrench on the hose half and a 5/8" on the solid metal line half. !

1. I removed the driver's front wheel and put the car on jack stands.

2. I removed the pressure hose end with an open end wrench adapter with a long 3/8" extension attached to a breaker bar.

The fluid flowed out and drained from the pump into a pan.

3. There is a brass brace connecting to hoses at the center of the pressure hose. You must have the car jacked high enough to comfortably move around underneith. I removed the support brace by getting under the car and sticking my left arm way up shoulder deep through the components to hold on to the brace with a chemical suit protecting my arm from the stuff that rubbed up against it, while my right hand unscrewed the two 10mm bolts one at a time with at least a 12" extension to a ratchet wrench. Starting with the one with the large washer connected to the frame, after removing the bolt and then after turning the brace, the other bolt can be removed as well.

4. I then removed the top end of the hose by removing the bolt at the pump.

5. I placed the new hose in place and connect the two ends. The bottom required an oring. I have yet to put the brace back.

6. I filled the pump reservoir and left the top off for a few minutes for some settling of air.

7. I started the car and turned the steering wheel to each extreme a few times. It was instantly bled of air.
