The pump its self is only held on with a few bolts just undo them.
Now remove all the pipes that are attached to the pump. ( clamp the pipe that leads to the Power Steering fluid reservoir or you will have a mess! )
now refit in reverse order!
Basically if you remember how you got it off it should go back on.
If you want to use fresh fluid which is advisable as it only costs a few quid carefully undo the pipe with the clamp on into a suitable container and then once reassembled refill from the reservoir.
Now turn your pump by hand a few times to make sure you have fluid in it before you replace the drive belts.
Note do not over tighten the belt this can lead to straining of the pump bearings.
This job took me about 45 min and saved me about 100 quid.
The pump cost me 80 quid but you can prob find cheaper pumps.
Good luck
£800 at Vauxhall franchised garage!
no they do not
82bhp it depends entirely on the engine and year really. the C14NZ from mk3 astra's was only 60bhp
Check that the alternator and the power steering don't work of the same belt.
You either need power streering fluid or a power steering belt.
For the TS Astra with hydraulic-electric power steering, it takes a Pentosin CHF fluid. A couple of equivalents I have come across include Castrol Hydraulic System Mineral Oil Plus, and Penrite LDAS fluid.
If your referring to hydraulic oil, u could be on about power stering fluid, which is located in black reservoir right next to battery,
low on power steering fluid or the pump is bad
streering is hard
No, if you do you will have no power steering. You could not steer this vehicle with the power steering pump bypassed.
Are there any hoses that go to the rack&pinion? If not, you don't have hydraulic assist steering.
More information needed, there could be a power steering belt and a alternator belt .Both of these would need removing to get access to the cambelt, which takes a lot of space to describe.Suggest check similar queries and if no help, repost question with more info on what you wish to do.
