You cannot change any format into a MSWMM file. MSWMM (Microsoft Windows Movie Maker) files are project files. Project files must be in a format compatible with Windows Movie Maker:
.asf, .avi, dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, .wmv
QuickTime file name extensions (formats) are NOT compatible. But, they can be made compatible with a Video Converter. Free video converters are available online. Google: free video converters and download one.
Once you have a converter installed, choose one of the file name extensions (formats) listed above as your "Output Source" format. Click Convert.
If the conversion is successful, the new file will now be compatible for use in Windows Movie Maker.
It is impossible to change a .MSWMM file into any other format.A MSWMM (Microsoft Windows Movie Maker) file can only be viewed/edited in the Windows Movie Maker. In other words, a MSWMM file is a project format specific to the program. To change a MSWMM file into a Standard viewing format (file name extension), simply Publish/Finish the video project. This process mixes-down (exports) the MSWMM format into a Standard viewing format.Once the file is Published/Finished, it can then be converted to a dvr-ms file name extension (or other format) if desired.
To change the video from a project file (MSWMM) to a Standard viewing format such as .wmv in Windows Live Movie Maker, you simply have to Publish it.
You cannot convert Windows Movie Maker (.MSWMM) files at all since they are in 'project' form. The only way to change a MSWMM to a standard format is through the Publishing/Finishing/Saving process.
The only way to change a Microsoft Windows Movie Maker (.MSWMM) file into another format is by Publishing or Finishing the project.
Open the MSWMM file with Windows Movie Maker. Go to File>Save Movie File and follow from there.
