This is the beauty of a file system called NTFS. NTFS is based on security, and is on any Windows computer from Windows 2000 to now. This makes things such as trying to change the administrator's password from a standard account not possible. NTFS additionally adds file protection - your files will not be viewed from a standard account if set to as an administrator.
Your answer in short is no. There is no way to change the administrator password with a standard account.
Go to start then control panel then user account the go to change password of any account if you are administrator if you are not an administrator you cannot change any password or make any changes

You need to log-in as the administrator, and change it from there. You cannot change it without knowing the original.
Only if they have your password.
If you lost windows password, you can go into safe mode (F8 when booting up) to recover windows password while you forgot user account password, but if you forgot administrator password, there is no way to change administrator password while you forgot it,you must use software to recover administrator password.my favorite is Windows Password Recovery 9.0.
Windows XP comes with two types of user accounts; normal user and the administrator. Changing a limited user to an administrator needs the administrator account password and then selecting the option from the User Control Panel.
Windows does not store passwords in plaintext. They are stored in an encrypted / hashed format. This means that once you have entered the password, you cannot display the actual text. The only way to determine what the password was is if the password was insecure and you matched it a known hash for a given password. Suggest you now do as following: 1. Try No Password Administrator Login Backdoor- In Windows XP there is built in administrator user account that has administrator credentials, enabled by default and without any password to protect the account from been access. If you didn't change the administrator's password, then try to sign in to Windows XP without password. 2. Reset password from another user account with administrator credentials. If you are unable to find your lost password from the above listed methods then you might want to buy password recovery software.
Windows XP will not change an administrator account to limited if it is the only administrator account on the system (other than the account named Administrator).
Login to the Administrator account and change the password to something you know.
First i will try to re-call my password by using password-hint option. If it doesn't work then I will login with administrator account and change the password of my user account, if I forgotten both admin and user password then i will try to reset my forgotten password with the use of recovery software.
You have to be an administrator to change you're (and other peoples) account types.
Login with Current or different user(if U forgot the Password) Eg: Administrator Go to control panel>user accounts > Change password Or reset the password after loging to different user(administratior account)
