A combination lock is not the same as a padlock. A combination lock could be in a padlock. A padlock can use different lock mechanisms, including a combination lock.

The changing of a Brinks lock combination depends on the model that you have. Most actually have a reset button that you hold down for 30 seconds to a minute.

If you examine your padlock, you will see that the shackle can be pushed down into the body in two positions: diectly into the body (i.e. to lock it) and at 90 degrees. To change the combination, turn the shackle to the 90 degree position, push it down into the body and turn the dials to the new combination.

You have to know the original combination of course. Mine was set at 555 when it arrived so I just had to stick a sharp object (like a paper clip) in the hole at the bottom of the Club padlock, change the combo to your choice of numbers and release the paper clip. Hope that helps :)
