2002 Elantra foglight bulb replacementFirst: the replacement bulb type is H3. This is almost impossible to find out without actually doing the job. Access is from behind the front bumper, underneath the car. You'll have to jack it up or put it on a lift. Be sure to observe appropriate safety precautions accordingly. There is a plastic cap about 2.5 inches in diameter on the back side of the enclosure. It will be tight and requires considerable effort to unscrew (counterclockwise) about 1/4 turn. It's a good idea to loosen the inner fender in this area (there are two fasteners that require a Phillips screwdriver to remove) so that you can get some room for your hand(s). When you have the cap off, you need to undo the spring wire clip that holds the bulb in place. Take a good look before you mess with it, so that you can see how it works, and don't destroy it. When the spring clip is out of the way, pull the bulb out of the assembly, being careful not to damage the wires. The wire that is attached to the bulb base can't be removed. There is a tab-type terminal at its other end, which is where it gets disconnected. Notice that the replacement bulb has a wire already attached. Needle-nose pliers are highly desireable to accomplish this. Make the electrical connection first when installing the new bulb. Again with the needle-nose. Notice the notches in the flange of the new bulb. The wide notch goes up top. It's important to get this right, so that the bulb is properly seated. Otherwise, the spring clip can't do its job. Be sure that the ground wire, which attaches to a tab that is part of the enclosure, hasn't been disconnected. Place the wires so that they don't get in the way, and replace the plastic cap, making sure it's not loose. The rest of the job should be a piece of cake, now.
