Basically you need to remove all the air inlet trunking from the inner wing inlet to the turbo inlet connection.
Unscrew the air filter cover(3 screws), disconnect the MAF sensor wiring and the breather connection.
It all comes off in one piece, no need to disconnect any of it.
This give you access to the fuel filter.
Disconnect the drain hose, the inlet and outlet quickfit connections and the 2 wiring plugs. The one underneath just plugs into a dummy housing on this application.
Press the retaining clip to one side and lift the filter out, vertically upwards.
Don't forget it's still full of diesel so put your thumbs/fingers over the inlet/outlet connection if you need to tilt it.
You now have to swap the fuel heater over from the old to the new.
In my experience it's usually a tight fit and needs a bit of judicious leverage with a broad bladed screwdriver to get it moving.
It is sealed with 2 nitrile/viton? diesel resistant O-rings, pink/orange in colour.
You are supposed to replace these but some filters come with them, some don't, so I wouldn't worry unduly as it's such a tight fit anyway.
Lubricate the rings with a bit of diesel and slide the old heater into the new filter making sure the retaining clips are engaged.
That's it, just replace it and refit all the connections.
Now you have to prime it or the engine will not start.
There is a manual primer bulb under the engine cover.
Squeeze it repeatedly for about 2 minutes.
You will feel the fuel starting to flow through it but continue until it starts to get a bit harder to squeeze.
Then start the engine, let it run for a few minutes to make sure the filter is fully purged.

how do i change rear brake pads on 53 plate Picasso hdi
Fuel filter is inside the gas tank, it has to be dropped and the unit taken out. Sry but it is a real pain to do, I suggest you go to a shop for it.
Is is extremely difficult to change a clutch on a 2l hdi citroen xswara picasso car, as it is mounted directly into the main console which is generally unremovable.
