I just replaced my fuel pump. I ended up taking the bed off. There are 8 bolts holding the bed on the frame. I also had to take off two ground wires near the bumper along the frame rail. There is also 1 plug that needs to be unplugged. The filler tube has 3 small bolts that also needs to be unscrewed and that is inside the gas cap cover. Then it will take 2 people to just lift the entire bed off the frame.
The fuel pump itself is held on by a retaining clip. use a screw driver to pry out of the groves. Next unplug the wiring (2). Last take the fuel lines off (3).
In our shop we drop the tank but we have the luxury of having the truck up on a lift.
