Remove the two screw covers on the housing surrounding the needle piston mechanism (on the left end and upper back of the machine), unscrew the screws then wiggle the housing free. The light bulb is in a grey rubber "socket" grab the bulb and pull it out.
You didn't mention what year or model your Elna is, but here is one way:
Push the tiny screwdriver into the hole on top of the machine, more or less straigt up from the presser foot, but a little to the rear of the machine.
When you push the screwdriver in firmly, the light bulb will pop down behind the presser foot. Turn the bulb clockwise to remove it. Replace with a new bulb of no more than 15 watts, Push the new bulb back in to the machine.
Keep in mind that the bulb slants down a little toward the back of the machine.
