On my E320, with a warm engine, I disconnceted the lower radiator hose to drain the fluid. Reconnect the hose and fill the radiator resivoir with 50% antifreeze and 50% water premixed. Take time, and keep topping it up to the FULL mark, fluid has to keep bleeding through the thermostat. Start the engine and turn the cabin heat up with the fan low, leaving the cap off the resivoir. Watch the temp dial on the dash and the fluid level. Hot air should come out the heater vents. You want the thermostat to open and have fluid circualting. Shut down and wait 15 minutes. The temp gauge should operate normally and the fluid level should stay on high.
