The part of this project that is not 'intuitive' is that the caliper piston needs to rotate as it is pushed back in. While you can do it without the specialized tool to achieve that, it's much easier to rent or borrow one. Disk brakes by design do not have adjustments - the pads 'float' with the caliper and the piston movement.

I think that Camry disk brakes were very similar from 1990 to at least 1996, and I answered the question on changing brake pads for my 1995 Camry, so maybe that will help.
A pulsing brake pedal indicates a warped disk rotor and that means the rotor needs to be replaced. In that case, they should both be done at the same time.

A 1996 camaro has the same DISK brakes as a 2001. It does not have drum brakes.
Remove the tire and wheel. Remove the brake pads and hardware. The brake disk will slide off. You might need to tap the disk with a hammer. Reverse the process to install the new brake disc.
All vehicles have brake pads.mine has disk brakes and the pads take about 10 minutes a piece to change.
Lift the car on a jack, remove the wheel, the brake shoe and disk. Next put on the new brake disc, put the brake shoe where it belongs, put the wheel back on and lower the car to the ground.
