Open rear door hatch. There you will see two or three Phillip screws holding the tail lamp / Lens assembly in place. Remove the screws. The assembly will not just pop out, as it is held in place at the far end by two 'plug in' type prongs, along with one in the front by the screws. I used a screwdriver to pop the assembly away from the body. Be careful though and cover the screwdriver tip with a rag or something to prevent it from chipping the paint.
You will then see two light bulbs held in the assembly. The top one is the brake light/turn signal bulb and the other is the back-up bulb. Twist the bulb assembly and it should pop right out. I had to replace the top bulb, which OEM is a Sylvania 4157K. After looking it up on their parts computer, the auto parts store gave me a 4157LL, which said it was a daytime running light on the package. It worked just fine for my rear brake/turn signal. It cost me $6.75 for a package that had 2 bulbs in it. To repace the assembly, just line up the prongs at the front and far end, push it firmly back into place and screw the screws back in. This was updated based on a 2006 Ford Expedition.

In the 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue, the cruise control system may deactivate when the blinker light is turned on as a safety feature. This design ensures that drivers remain in full control of the vehicle when signaling a lane change or turn, allowing them to adjust their speed as needed. Additionally, it may be related to the vehicle's electrical system, where the activation of the blinker interrupts the cruise control function. If this behavior seems abnormal, it could indicate a malfunction that should be checked by a mechanic.
