How do you change the tire on a 1996 Chevy S10 pickup?

if using doughnut tire, first insert flat end of lug wrench into hole on left lower side of rear license plate and turn counterclockwise.(if it won't turn counterclockwise try clockwise).this will in turn lower spare tire. lower till about one foot from ground . you should then be able to tilt tire to one side to slacken cable. turn metal plate through middle of tire so tire is free and clear. return cable to lifted position. take off hubcaps using tire iron to loosen. take tire iron and loosen lug nuts prior to raising veiacle.jack up truck finish removing nuts,remove tire. slid on spare, hand tighten nuts, lower truck. finish tightening nuts skipping every other nut as you go till all tightened. if using doughnut, replace regular tire as soon as possible.
