You will need a torx adapter (I don't remember the size). After that make sure that the trunk is supported by something. Because it's very heavy, and you do not want it to fall on your head. Then replace the struts one at time. Always change the struts in pairs.
Once struts fail, they have to be replaced. You will need a torx socket. I do not remember the size but but guys from almost any auto store can help you to find out. Make sure that you change them both.
