The thermostat housing is located at the end of the cylinder head and behind the timing belt inner cover.
On the 2.6 liter, 4 cylinder engine the thermostat housing cover is where the upper radiator hose attaches to the engine. On the 3.0 liter, V6 engine the cover is where the lower radiator hose attaches to the engine.
The thermostat housing is behind the camshaft sprocket. Remove timing covers and belt then remove camshaft sprocket and then rear timing cover. .
Follow bottom hose to where it connects with engine and you will see that the lower hose clamps on to thermostat housing. Unbolt housing cover and you will find the thermostat.

To install: Clean the thermostat housing and the cylinder head mating surfaces. Make sure that the thermostat jiggle pin is aligned with the gasket projection. Install the thermostat to the housing. Align the gasket projection with the opening in the housing. The spring side of the thermostat should face into the housing. Install the thermostat housing cover and tighten both bolts to 14-19 ft. lbs. (19-25 Nm). Fill the cooling system. Connect the negative battery cable, start the engine and check for leaks. Check the coolant level and add coolant, as necessary. FOR PICTURES GO TO: http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/14/44/e4/0900823d801444e4.jsp

You can do it yourself in about 20 minutes or less. Just remove the plastic engine cover and trace the top water hose from the radiator back to the thermostat housing. Use a 10mm socket to remove the two bolts holding the metal housing. Pull out old thermostat and replace with new one (no gasket required). Make sure the rubber ring that comes with the new thermostat is seated properly in the outside groove. Replace housing and engine cover. You're done!

On a 1999 Honda Accord (regardless of whether it's a 4-cylinder or a V-6), the thermostat is located under the thermostat housing cover which is connected to the upper radiator hose. On the 4-cyl engines, the thermostat housing is at the right/rear side of the engine, and on the V-6, the housing is near the battery. The thermostat cover is aluminum, and has two bolts holding it on to the housing. You can also identify the housing by the radiator fan sensor, which is screwed into the housing. There's an electrical plug that connects to the sensor. To get to the thermostat, just remove the hose first, then remove the two thermostat cover bolts and detach the cover. If the cover is stuck, tap it with a soft-face hammer to jar it loose. Be prepared for some coolant to spill as the gasket seal is broken. When you install the new thermostat, be sure to install it with the spring towards the engine, and the jiggle pin up.
Behind the timing cover inside the alloy lookin housing
The thermostat housing (water neck) is located on the front of the motor just below the valve cover. The top radiator hose should go to it.
Follow the upper radiator hose to the engine. That is the thermostat housing. You may have to remove the upper drive belt cover to gain access.
