automatic? need a large container to hold 20 quarts or more to prevent spillage. About 15 will drain. There is a hex drain plug facing rear on transmission pan. Once drained, remove pan bolts, leave opposite corners on for last to keep pan from dropping on you. Be careful with pan seal as some are reusable and I prefer those. Less leakage potential. Pull filter down and replace. Clean pan bottom especially magnetic donut reverse what you did and refill. I use a plastic tube with a funnel as the angle of the fill/dipstick tube is almost flat. Tube needs to fit snuggly in the metal fill tube. I also add aditives and use either synthetic or valvoline maxlife DEXRON/MERCON. have 14 7.3 automatics
