Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a method of learning to break your old mental habits that make you unhappy and learn new healthier habits to replace them. You learn things like - when you have a thought that makes you unhappy, you decide if it is a realistic worry or thought (example: "I'm a failure" isn't realistic because nobody is a total failure - "I failed that test" is realistic because it's just a fact). If the thought is not realistic, you tell yourself "Stop." and think about something else instead, or distract yourself by going for a walk or doing something else active.
