BIOS is checked during POST procedure which a PC passes each time when powered on. If POST fails, a PC user will be presented with series of beeps, sequences of which indicates a problem detected with BIOS itself or with a PC hardware.
The Mac does not have a BIOS and so the settings cannot be checked.
You can check your computers memory by going into the BIOS menu.
You need to check the motherboard manufacture website for new bios release, download it and follow installation instructions.

1) Check that the jumber settings are properly configured if its an IDE HDD or check proper power cable is connected with it .ie molex in case of IDE HDD 2) Check that the IDE or Sata devices connected are disabled in the BIOS or not
