How do you check a Chihuahuas temperature?

You take their temperature rectally with a thermometer and it should range from 101-102 Degrees F. I just checked my dog's temp to see if she had a fever because she has been sick, her temp was 101.1 which is normal. All dogs usually have this same temp.
