A photocontrol uses light to activate the switch. When the sensor does not detect light the circuit is broken and the switch is deactivated.
If a single pole switch is wired to be a master switch, the switch would have to be in the on position for any other control devices to operate. Turning the master switch off would eliminate power to all devices (and/or loads) which it was serving. For example, some homes have a switch to control their outside light. If the outside light has a photo eye (the light will only come on at night), the switch is the master switch. Another example would be the breakers in an electrical panel. Each breaker would be the "master switch" for the circuit it protects. The main breaker in the panel would be the "master switch" for the entire home.
this is due the action of the photo transducer.when the light falls on the swtich, suddenly the resistance decreases.and the switch is closed.
Some photo cell units have an over ride on them. If your photo switch has a switch ahead of it, the over ride may have inadvertently been turned on. Try this in the daytime. If the light is continuously on use the switch to shut the power off to it within a 10 second interval. An example, light on, flip switch off for five seconds and then back to the on position. Wait to see is the unit times out and turns the lamps off. The large knob under the unit is probably the sensitivity control or the time on till off control.

A switch that can be used to control the working of home appliances like flush system, hand dryer or else. The wireless switch needs no remote control for its working. You only want to move your hand between the infrared LED and photo transistor to control the device or load.

A proximity switch operated when you bring your hand or finger close to it. That's what's in lamps that turn on when you touch the base of the lamp. A photo switch operates when light shines on it. That's what's on streetlights that turns them on automatically after dark.

To take a photo switch the Camera/Video switch so that you see the Camera icon
The neutral is needed for the internal sensing electronics inside of the photo cell switch.
The Department of Motor Vehicles issues valid photo identification.
They check by asking for valid photo ID.
