The resistance (ohms) between the headlamp "earth" connection and the vehicle battery NEGATIVE connection should be near zero. Although zero ohms is technically not possible in anything short of a superconductor, the resistance should not be much more than 1.
If the resistance is much more than that, you should clean rust/corrosion from connectors and use some kind of rust inhibiting/conductive material to improve the conductive properties of the circuit.
The above is true, but not easy. If in doubt of any ground connection in a car, just run another ground wire from the item to somewhere you know is a good ground (car frame, ground buss, negative battery cable, etc)
You can use a multimeter to measure the resistance
Type your answer here... how to get ohm in earth pit
If the earth connection has a high resistance it is not capable of acting as a true earth. For example, the high resistance might mean that the fuse or circuit-breaker will fail to operate when there is a fault.
insulation resistance can be measured by means of megger, with built in d.c generator. It is measured between the conductor and the earth. earth resistance can be measured by means of earth resistance tester. For good effective earthing, th earth resistance should be of order 0.5 ohm
what is the resistance value of a healthy earth pit
The recommended resistance that one should strive to obtain is zero.
Ohmeter connected both ends ground circuit. Usually this circuit very short with minimal resistance due to that. Do you have a good solid ground?

i have a 03 206 it wont turn off by the key but when you press the break it turns off can any body help with this to find out whats the problem thanks Check the earth connection under the front left headlight. unscrew it and clean it. This is an earth problem. The engine will also turn off if you put car into reverse. The ignition needs to earth to switch off, it does this through the earth under the headlamp
Check battery earth connection.

To provide a low-resistance return in the event of a earth-fault current occurring anywhere in the circuit. The requirement for a low-resistance return is to ensure the resulting fault current causes the relevant protective device to disconnect the faulty circuit.
You have faulty wiring or a loose relay. Check for secure earth points around the headlamp shells. Rust here is common and does not conduct electricity. You may have to add extra earth bonding wires.

Earth the Resistance - 2014 is rated/received certificates of: UK:15
The lower the resistance you get in the grounding/earth system the better. In offshore a resistance from 1-2 ohm is a good earthing system. In Onshore a miximum of 10ohm is acceptable.
