For an automatic, the dipstick is only accessible from under the car. So, you have to jack the car up, or put it on a lift, then you should see a green plastic dipstick on the top of the transmission. It's seen from on the right side of the vehicle. What a poor design.
The transmission dipstick is located on the front of the transmission and is accessible from underneath the car. It is green in color and held in by a retaining bolt.
There is none. Transmission pan must be removed to drain fluid.
Saab wants you to use ATF +4 fluid.

There is no transmission filter on the Saab 9-5 Automatic. It is recommended to do 3 separate fluid changes at about 1 week intervals to change out most of the old fluid with new.
Just use ATF automatic or MTF manual tranny fluid

It could be transmission fluid or coolant, or a problem with the catalytic converter.
How do you remove a Saab 9.5 transmission
Because a 2004 Saab is a GM car, use GM-approved ATF. If I had a car that new, I'd go to a Chevy dealership for ATF.
