To add transmission fluid to a Saab 9-3, locate the transmission dipstick tube, which is typically found near the back of the engine bay. Remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, and insert a funnel into the tube to add the appropriate type of transmission fluid. After adding fluid, check the level using the dipstick to ensure it’s within the proper range. Always consult your owner's manual for specific fluid specifications and procedures.

The 2001 Saab 9-3 does not have a traditional dipstick for checking the manual transmission fluid. Instead, the fluid level is checked through a fill plug located on the side of the transmission. To check the fluid, you need to remove this plug and ensure that the fluid is at the correct level, which should be just below the opening. Always refer to the owner's manual for specific instructions and safety precautions.

For an automatic, the dipstick is only accessible from under the car. So, you have to jack the car up, or put it on a lift, then you should see a green plastic dipstick on the top of the transmission. It's seen from on the right side of the vehicle. What a poor design.
There is none. Transmission pan must be removed to drain fluid.
In a 1999 Saab 9-3, the transmission dipstick is located near the back of the engine bay, typically on the driver's side. It is a yellow or orange handle that you can pull out to check the transmission fluid level. Make sure the engine is running and the vehicle is on a level surface when checking the fluid. If you have trouble locating it, consulting the owner's manual can provide additional guidance.

There is no transmission filter on the Saab 9-5 Automatic. It is recommended to do 3 separate fluid changes at about 1 week intervals to change out most of the old fluid with new.
It's hard to find and needs to be accessed from from under the engine compartment: Open your hood, look to the right of the yellow oil dipstick exactly 1 foot, deep under the radiator and other hoses is the green trans fluid dipstick. It is held in place by a 12mm bold. It is quite easy to access and check once the car is lifted.
