The 2004 Ford expedition cabin air filter is located behind the dashboard, on the passenger side. The air filter should be labeled as such.
Are you sure it has a cabin filter? Purchase a Purolator cabin filter for your vehicle. It comes with complete instructions.
Try under the glove box where the ducting is, you have to remove a screw or two.

If you mean "cabin air filter," there is not one on the 1997 Ford Expedition. I have a '97 Expedition Eddie Baur and have looked and researched thoroughly.
Cabin Air FilterMost 2000 Ford Expeditions will NOT have a cabin air filter. It was a dealer installed option for this year. And the parts for the dealer installed option were difficult to come by. If it exists in your 2000 Ford Expedition (and it probably does not), it is underneath the glove box. You need to remove between 3 and 9 screws to get to the cabin air filter.
