I used to have my own horse and pony so i know how to clean it so ill explain it in 9 steps i will also tell you some handy hints and warnings:
Head over to the nearest horse supply store and purchase a couple bars of glycerin soap (it's cheap), a soft cloth, and a sponge. The brand doesn't matter.
Keep a bar right next to the place where you tack up your horse, along with a small bucket of water and a sponge.
3
Every time you are finished riding, dampen the sponge (with a good wring out), wipe it on the soap and give your saddle and bridle a quick once over. This way no dirt and sweat can built up, taking your show prep from an hour to 2 minutes. This also allows you to inspect your tack every time you ride, for safety issues.
4
Dry off the saddle with a clean towel. Get the saddle completely dry before continuing the next step always remember.
5
Get some saddle shine and put it on the saddle. Carefully rub it on the saddle with a clean towel ( make sure it is not one of your best towels).
6
To "Strip" clean:
7
Remove the stirrup leathers from the saddle and set them aside. Take the bridle apart, and set the pieces aside with the stirrup leathers.
8
Clean as above.
9
Dip the bit and stirrups in a bucket of room temperature water. Scrub.
Do not forget to put it back together correctly.
tips
Everyday after a ride.
We clean tack for several reasons:With regular care, the leather will keep in good condition for longerTo look nice and presentablePrevent cracking/breaking
To disinfect horse tack you should look online or call a local tack store and ask about a disinfectant type cleaner for leather. Using anything else could destroy the leather and make it useless.
not unless you are riding the horse, but i would suggest not to over work the horse, and to clean the horse once you have finished riding and taking off all tack, and to let it have a break.
You can get horse riding gear at tack stores! riding gear is called "tack"
A horse will wear a horseshoe that is small and sharp.
