It helps to have a system. A good first step is to collect all the trash, then all the recycling, and get that out of the way. Next, gather things that need to be washed: dishes to the sink or dishwasher, tablecloths or similar to the laundry. Then, replace things that may have been moved around, like chairs or pillows. Then clean off surfaces and vacuum or sweep and mop as usual.
