In my own experience, it took about two months to completely clear my skin (but a pimple will still come here and there occasionally). I would say that aside from the obvious skin care-methods: washing face 2 times a day, not touching it, clean pillow case, etc- certain masks do work very well. These two work the best for me and I have combination skin.
1. Toothpaste! I used a gel type of toothpaste and applied it to my affected areas. By morning i would say 50% was cleared/dried and gone. BTW: make sure you moisturize your skin the next day or it WILL dry and flake.
2. Salt! OR Baking Soda! Both work the same way- They dry out the pimple/zit. Al's you do is mix either one or both with a little bit of water until it's a thick paste, apply it to the pimples, leave it for 15-30 minutes, and wash it off. PS: Most people feel that baking soda works better as to me which i prefer salt:)

It depends on what you skin is like. You should see results in the first week, but doesn't mean you'll have completely clear skin. Obviously, the more acne you have the longer it'll take. I had moderate acne and after about 2-3 weeks my skin was completely clear. But I started seeing results after about 5 days.
