Well it depends on what game you have... I'm pretty sure that Emerald,Diamond,Platinum,and Pearl are the only games who can clone items and Pokemon... If so what you need to do is...:(remember this is on the battle frontier... so you must have first beaten the elit four and champion.)
1. Go to the computer and empty your party to one Pokemon.
2.SAVE.
4.Go to the Multi-link battle room in the battle tower and enter any Pokemon for battle.
5.The lady will ask if it's okay to save the game...say yes.
6.It'll pause for a second... not FREEZE.
7.The standard save table will come up say no and turn it off.YOU DON'T TURN OFF THE GAME WHILE ITS SAVING. just simply say yes to the lady and no to the game.
Note:Diamond Platinum and Pearl cloning is not the same...
THERE IS NO WAY TO CLONE ITEMS WITHOUT CLONING THE POKEMON....

to clone a Pokemon go to the battle tower in the battle frontier(after you finnish the game) and put the Pokemon you want to clone in a box by its self and save the game. when you turn it back on take the Pokemon out then go to the lady at the counter closest to you and go to a open level then when she asks you to save say yes then when it sais are you shore you want to save go no then turn off the game. when you turn back on the Pokemon you cloned will be in your team and the box you put it before. to clone items simply get the Pokemon you are cloning to hold an item and it will clone the item too.
