How do you clone on Pokemon Silver?

in the Pokemon center, save at the computer. the deposit the Pokemon you want to clone in a box. change the box but when it says "saving don't turn off the power" and shut it off anyway after the sentence ends. (sometimes it doesnt work if you don't shut it off at the right time or your pokemons name will be all messed up)

when you turn it back on you should have the Pokemon in your PC and in your bag. you can also give it an item like rare candy and you can clone it along with the Pokemon

But the way given above doesn't work.......... i think. Cause i've tried it several times

Get the Pokemon you want to clone (up to five) and put them in your party, along with one other Pokemon (not an egg, so you can deposit all the rest). Deposit them into your box, and switch boxes (it doesn't matter which boxes you use). When it asks you, "Would you like to save the game?" say yes. As soon as it finishes saying "SAVING... DON'T TURN OFF THE POWER," turn off the game (right after the word "power" is spelled out on the screen). When you turn it back on, check your party, to see if you have all the Pokemon you deposited in your party. Then check the box you deposited them into. You should have the same Pokemon in your party as in the box.

How it works: while the game is saving, you interrupt the process, and the game doesn't have a chance to understand that the Pokemon are not in your party anymore, and it puts them in both places.

Cloning also works on the items the Pokemon are holding. If you clone a Pikachu holding a Master Ball, you will have two Pikachus, but then you will also have two Master Balls. It's very helpful.

I did try to clone my shiny Gyarados on Crystal, and it glitched, but that might have been my fault. It didn't ruin the game; I just had to release the messed up (not shiny) Gyarados.
