You only have a daily take if you signed up before the Properties tab was replaced by the Rackets tab, or if you have reached the level to play in Cuba or Moscow.
On the Rackets tab, each racket produces a "take" after a certain period such as 4 hours or 3 days. You need to return to the Rackets tab after this period and click "collect" on each racket, or "collect all" on the areas where you have rackets. You have to start rackets before you can collect, and they have to be restarted after each "take". So the process goes:
1) click on Rackets tab
2) choose a free space, and select a racket to start
3) wait (or do other things) for the time it takes for the racket to mature
4) come back to Mafia Wars and click the Rackets tab again
5) click "collect" under the racket you started earlier
6) if you want to collect again, go back to step 2
The timing for this is actually quite difficult, because if you leave a racket too long after it matures, it gets busted. Also, you need to spend Influence on each racket you run. If you collect, you get the Influence back as well and can spend it again, but if your racket is busted, you lose the influence you invested in it.
In Cuba and Moscow, there is a "Businesses" tab instead of a "Rackets" tab. The businesses store up goods which have to be sold manually, buy clicking on the "sell" button under the business. You can buy extra businesses and upgrade businesses so they make more valuable goods, make a greater quantity, or can store more goods if you leave then unattended.
