Anorexia is a dangerous and often deadly eating disorder in which a person essentially starves themself and excessively exercises in order to burn off even more calories in a desparate attempt to lose extreme amounts of weight. 90% of all cases are in women. Muscle dysmorphia is often seen as a "type" or "faction" of anorexia. It is almost like anorexia for men (10% of all cases). In this, men strive for a lean body (hence where the anorexia comes into play), but also to be very muscular. In a sense, it is often sought afetr to be all muscle and no fat, where as anorexia is no muscle-bulk and no fat, either.
While an eating disorder can affect either gender equally, more women tend to suffer from anorexia and bulimia while more men tend to suffer from muscle dysmorphia, protein abuse, and anorexia athletica.
