You do not mention which GTA game you mean, but here are some examples: To have, and be involved with a gang, GTA: San Andreas is probably the best example. CJ is part of the Grove Street families, and he also rolls with them during gang wars, and recruits them to help him out. The next best example is The Lost & Damned, part of the Episodes From Liberty City (GTA IV spin offs). Johnny is part of The Lost motorbike gang, and he also rolls with them and gets involved in fights with other gangs. This game gives you a real feel for the motorbike gang culture. Gangs exist in all GTA games, but the protagonist is not always involved with a gang within the game. Niko Bellic does not belong to a gang, but in GTA IV you see evidence of gangs around Liberty City (Koreans, Dominicans, Russians, Triads, Mafia, etc.)
