Once you have the locator beacon from the Research Station , you will find Salerno at the Bio Dome. Get the Key Card she drops and follow her to the Rock Lab. In the storage room at far/upper right, you will find a Geiger Counter to use to trace the 4th artifact. It is actually just a little ways from the Rock Lab, marked by a purple X. When you tow away the rocks on top, it rises and projects a light beam.
Follow the light beam to where it intersects with another one from two other artifacts. Salerno will appear and help you dig, and you fall into an ancient alien underground base. Salerno uses the base's teleporter to travel to their home world, and she is not seen again until you return to PACE headquarters. For your help, you are awarded the Island Medallion.
