Go to set a wireless connection (in vista operating) and go to set adhoc computer (computer to computer) than type your network name, than in the second choose select on the no authored (unsecured) , then select on save network and than click on next.

On another operating system like XP open the wireless then the vista laptop which is the admin will appear on your XP laptop, then wait at lest three minute because the XP laptop will take an IP from the vista laptop (will appear requiring network in XP & identifying in vista laptop)

How do you connect laptops together on a wireless network?

If you don't have access to a WAP (wireless access point) then you will need to configure the laptops to work in ad hoc mode. In ad hoc mode, one of the laptops will be the "host", other laptops will be clients. You need to use the same SSID (service set identifier) for all the laptops. I presume you're asking about Windows laptops; with Windows Vista, it's fairly straightforward: # Select Connect to from the start menu.# Click Set up a connection or network. # Click Set up an ad hoc (computer-to-computer) network, click Next, and then follow the steps in the wizard.
