A.) Buy a network card, stick it into your motherboard.
B.) Buy a rare ethernet to USB converter.
No. The PS3 can only have a wired connection with an ethernet cable. The only other connection that is possible is WiFi. The PS3 can only connect to the internet with WiFi or ethernet cable no other type connection is possible. You can not use the HDMI or USB port to connect the PS3 to the internet. I do not believe a router can be connected to the internet cable without a modem or that you can have cable internet without a modem
You can try resetting your Xbox or just try connect your console via Ethernet cable? Maybe it just needs a required connection but it depends on what you were trying to do when the error came up.
A crossover cable is used when connecting 2 computers together and a straight cable is used to connect a computer to a networking device like a network switch or router. This has to do with the send/receive pins of the cords, obviously when you need to connect 2 computers together you dont want them to be both sending through the same pin, so they are swapped so that what one computer sends comes through the receive port of the other computer. Networking devices dont need this as they are designed to work with straight cables.
You need what is called a crossover cable. This cable is special because there are a few wires switched that allow the computer to send and receive all has to do with the network card and how communcation is done. Answer: Correct - The wires within each terminal end of the cables are switched So the Transmit pin connection on one end of the cable is the Receive pin on the other. It's where the term crossover came from. Typically crossover cables are yellow, and can usually be bought at any computer store.
Yes, you can. You can use wired connection for internet. Meaning, that you can connect your computer directly to the modem through cable, or to the router.
I don't Think You'll be able to do that without a cable or router you can get a cable from about 45m for around $30AU. Another thing is that you could try to move the dsl modem upstairsbut oh well. i use a router,i got it about $90-$100AU.

wifi is wireless internet. so you dont need to run a ethernet cable to your device to have internet if it is wifi ready.
If you want a wireless internet hookup for the xbox then it is necessary to have a wireless network adapter. If you don't want to buy one you can always hookup the xbox to the internet with an ethernet cable. but do u only need that cable and it will work?? i have wireless internet and if i connect the ethernet cable to xbox from the computer it will work?? Answer- NO you can not plug ur xbox straight into your computer. You won't get internet that way. You have to use an ethernet cable and plug it into ur wireless router. Or you can just buy a wireless adaptor.
No, unless it has a router built into it. If a person is likely to want to connect more than one computer to the internet, they'll likely want a router anyway, thus rendering a second Ethernet port superflous. The Linksys WCG200 would be an example of a cable modem with a router built-in.
Most computers still come with a phone jack expansion in one of the PCI slots, try plugging it into that, and ethernet cable into the onboard ethernet adapter. I dont use fax machines personally, so this is just a theory, but it should work. You will probably want to pick up an A/B splitter box with a manual switch at Radio Shack for like $10. Make sure the configuration is setup so the computer still has internet while you are faxing.
i dont no
