The steps to connecting a media hub to your network may depend on whether it is wired or wireless. The media hub connects your computer and other devices to the web so its placement should not be obstructed. For a wired hub it is simply connected to your computer.
A social media network is generally a Web site that people visit frequently and consistently to connect with people that they wouldn't normally connect with.
Routers, Switches, Modems, and Hubs, but mostly Routers
Media is always required to connect one device to another on a network. It doesn't matter if it is a client server network or a peer to peer network.
At the very minimum each device must have a NIC adaptor to connect to the network. There also must be some type of media (either cable or wireless), and usually a connectivity device, such as hubs, switches, routers, etc.

In its simplest form on a single-processor motherboard, a single QPI is used to connect the processor to the IO Hub (e.g., to connect an Intel Core i7 to an X58). In more complex instances of the architecture, separate QPI link pairs connect one or more processors and one or more IO hubs or routing hubs in a network on the motherboard, allowing all of the components to access other components via the network.
Network hubs are platform independent. That is, they don't distinguish between Macs or PC's.
Use a command window to run ipconfig /allthen run ping "ipaddress" from the listings.ping 127.0.0.1 is a loopback to test media(Cabling/hubs).
