If you find where your monitor is connected to the tower and unplug the cable connecting it you will see the port the cable was connected to most likely it is DVI or a VGA cable check on you tv for an identical port most new TVs have them if it doesn't you will need to buy a VGA or DVI to composite video (red white yellow cable) adapter make sure you get a vga adapter if you have a vga port or a dvi adapter if it's a dvi port. If your tv does have a vga or dvi port on it you can take the video cable off your monitor and plug one end in the tv and one in the tower then you need audio you can take the cable with the green ends of the back of your monitor and put it in the port on your tv that says either audio in or aux. If its not brand new just a couple of years or if it's a new tv it might have an s-video port (circular black port about the size of a dime) and if your computer also has it you can get an s-video cable buy one if you don't have one and connect it that way connecting the audio the same as if you used a vga cable.
I have tried using a monitor as a TV. It is impossible (or nearly impossible). For a computer, I don't think so. You'd have to find extra hardware that I don't know if it exists.
It would work best with a flat screen tv. Flat screen tv's, laptops, and most desktop computers have VGA ports, and there is a connector (dont know specific name) to connect the two.
Your just supposed to hook it up that way, I guess. I'm only nine, but my dad is buying a flat screen tv for my room and I'm going to use it as a computer and a tv.
Go to your tv and find the "PC" input. It has a thick wire. Acquire the pc and connect it via the hub in the back.

Well, you are talking about two separate sound outputs. The audio built into the PC and the audio system that is built into the HDMI system. If you don't use the audio from your pc...the sound is heard from your hdmi device...in this case the TV. Most TVs don't have a spot to simply attach a subwoofer and you have to once again send the output (from the TV) to an external amp...where you can attach external speakers and a subwoofer. Or...you can simple use the PC audio to plug into a speaker system with a subwoofer. Your TV becomes strictly a MONTIOR.
