There is no way to connect a pen drive to a DVD player if there is no USB port. Some newer televisions have USB ports installed on them already. If you have no USB port on either, buy a new media box or a new television.
You can connect an MP3 to a CD player through the "AUX in" port.

Serial port is by far the fastest port. It is so fast that it is used in modern computer to connect hard drive to motherboard. Current generation of serial port is SATA 6Gpbs.

yes this is asumming that you have an external drive connected to the USB port. Plug in the external drive let the operating system connect. Then all you should have to do is drag and drop. this is for using windows products.
There is no (theoretical) limit - since you can connect a large hard-drive to a USB port - and have it treated as a RAM disk.
An external hard drive can only be connected to a router with a USB port. Consider Asus routers for hooking up external drives.
