Jesus' mission really wasn't about healing physical illness. He stated that His mission was "not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." (Mark 2:17)
In the same verse, Christ states that "They that be whole need not a Physician, but they that are sick." Here He is speaking of the spiritual illness of sin. Thus we see that, to continue Jesus' mission of healing, we need to go and tell others about the Great Physician, who alone can heal their every sickness.
There is, however, instruction in the New Testament as to the healing of physical illness.
It is found in James 5:14-15, below:
14Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. You see again that the Lord places importance on healing the sins of the sick one, rather than only healing the physical illness.
