No, actually if your DVD burner could support the format of the video which you want to burn to DVD, then you don't need to convert it first. Take an example, the DVD burner I'am using supports AVI, MPG, MPEG, WMV, MOV, DAT, FLV and so on, so that I could burn videos, movies, torrent movies, even YouTube videos to DVD without converting them first. No Fool!
