save the money yourself, ask for it as a Christmas of birthday present, research the bird and convince your parents that you know how to take care of one. Also you could do chores and stuff to suck up to them.

to get your parents to say yes to a caged animal this is what you need to do:

get a objection about the pet.

convince them by saying "if you don't take care of it i promise i will return it (cross your fingers)".

SO that the animal you want makes a really good house pet and they are good with kids.

say you have time for that pet.

Say that u will have a good time and that you will spend less time bothering them if u get this animal.

last But not least say that you need it and if u don't get it "i will ignore you for the rest of my life (not meaning it)"

From experience (having 16 pets) offering to pay, care for. and play with the pet are better than the other things.

first if your parents will not let you have a pet like a dog or a cat, maybe you should try a smaller pet first. Some good ones are fish ,hamsters, hermit crabs, and more . Giving a word of advice ,don't get a loud pet like a bird . Birds are loud and not good first pets if you start out with a bird ,your parents [well most parents] will get rid of that bird before you can blink . you start out with a smaller one maybe you will get a big pet like a dog or find out you and your little friend are just fine.

I love my cockatiel! I wouldn't go anywhere without him, but you have to make sure you will be as dedicated to your little pal as I am. Make sure you know what you have to do to own this little critter.

What I did to let my parents get me one, was I typed up a whole packet about them, including facts on eating, prices of food, cages, toys, the bird himself, etc.

Then, I got a fish, and kept his bowl clean, and took great care of him.

My parents saw how well I worked with my fish!

Then, I kept my grades up, kept my room clean, and tried doing extra chores.

Try offering to help pay for it.

If your parents say no, try asking them why, and then answering their questions.

Don't argue, or be pushy. That won't get you ANYWHERE. Trust me, I know how that works out.

If they still won't let you, keep trying. They will eventually crack.

First, show them how responsible you are. Do your chores, practice your sports or music, earn good grades on homework or a test, and if you have other pets, be sure to take care of them properly.

Second, research, research, research. Spend a Saturday on the internet or reading a book about what you want. Write reports and take notes, and casually leave them around. When your parents ask you what it's for, say "Well, I've been doing a lot of thinking lately, and what I really want is..."

Third, save your money. Calculate exactly how much you'll need, and save save save! At dinner or during a car ride, say "I've been saving my money, and guess how much I have now?" when they ask what you've been saving for, answer them, "A (so-and-so)! When are you taking me to get it?"

Fourth, make posters and PowerPoints describing what you want, why you want it, what you have done and will do to get it. Point out the good and bad things, and solutions for the bad things.

Fifth, write down "guilt-facts" on small slips of paper, and leave them where your parents will find them, such as the bathroom counter, near the coffee, on their desks, etc. Put things such as "i need to learn responsibility for my future, and you are holding me back!" or "1,000,000 guinea pigs get put to sleep a year becuase nobody wants them. if we don't get one, that's like murdur!"

Sixth, hint. let your parents hear you talking to a friend or sibling about how much you want a guinea pig. on a boring day, say "(sigh) if i had a guinea pig right now, I wouldn't be so bored!" at dinner or during a car ride, "I have even more money saved up in my (so-and-so) fund! I have (so-and-so) dollars now!"

Hope this helped!

Show your parents you are responsible for a pet. Do some extra chores around the house and do some research on the pet of your choice. Put together little presentation filled with info about your pet and why you think you deserve a pet. Its gonna take a lot of work but it will be worth it!!

Also, you can look up good things about parakeets and make a PowerPoint or something. Then present it to your parents.

Best of luck!!!
