How do you eat okra?

ANSWER:Either as fried Okra or in a recipe called okra and tomatos.Take two 12 ounce cans or 3 cups skinned, crushed tomatos and about 2 cups of okra cut in slices about 3/8 inch long. Add this to a soup pot, add a little water if necessary and cook until the okra is no longer crunchy. Add salt and pepper to taste. The last time I cooked this, my wife had never tried it because the only okra she had eaten was cooked whole in a soup and was slimy. I got 1 bowl, she ate the rest.

Okra is a vegetable. It is very high in iron, so it's inclusion in a diet is beneficial.

One way to prepare okra is fried. The okra is sliced into pieces, and dipped in flour or corn meal, then fried in oil. One uses a fork for this method.

When okra is boiled, one still uses a fork, but the appearance is somewhat less pleasing. Most often, the okra is boiled with tomatoes and is similar in appearance to gumbo. Okra is used in gumbos also.

It is served as a side dish for most fried meats when served fried.

Boiled okra is sometimes an acquired taste. It is very mild in flavor, but has a tendency to be "slimy", meaning that it develops a "sauce" of it's own.

To make boiled okra, select small pods because they will be more tender. Wash the pods and put into salted boiling water. Cook about three minutes, then pour the water off and put in fresh water to avoid the slimy effect. Boil about 6 minutes more until tender. Plate quickly, and top with butter.

You can use butter in the second water if you prefer.
