Just use your creative skills and think of something
you should build a box for the egg to go in so it will not break.
To do an egg drop project with a shoe box, you can cushion the egg inside by using materials like cotton balls, bubble wrap, or foam. Place the egg in the center of the shoe box and securely close the lid. Test the project by dropping the shoe box from different heights to see if the egg remains intact.
Any way you drop it is fine... It's hard to find a box that actually "breaks"...
you get a box an make a safe area for the egg. then you stuff the box with lots of soft stuff. you then you just put a lid on it. i know because i did the same project.
yes, this is usallualy done by eighth graders who build a box out of different materials and drop them from their school bleachers, then they unwrap their boxes to see if their egg survived.
Cheat by boiling the egg :) But, If you dont want to cheat, try this. Make a box out of paper. Make it fairly large, but not too big. Now, fit a cylinder in the middle of the box. MAKE SURE THE EGG CAN FIT INSIDE THE CYLINDER. Also, make sure the cylinder is stuck down good, and in the middle of the box. If it's not in the middle, it won't be weighted quite right. Now, rip paper into strips and crumple it up. Stuff as much of it as you can in the tube, still allowing room for the egg. Now, tape more crumpled paper to the top of the box, in case it flips over. When you place the egg in the box , make sure it is in the tube, and that you put some of the paper on top of the egg.
There are many, upon many different types of egg drop capsules that you can create. What I do, is I use some drinking straws for the outer layer, to keep the box light, and it won't bounce as much. As of the inner-layer, I use some packing peanuts, yet leave a small hole leaving for the egg. Make sure that there are some space remaining when the egg is in, so the impact isn't extreme.
By securing it in foam, and then in a crate or box made of a hard substance. Or use lots and lots of bubble wrap. It's what one of my cousins used for his egg drop experiment
Surround the egg with protective material such as foam peanuts, bubble wrap or popcorn. in addition, you want to put it in a box, and weight the bottom, so that the egg always lands the same way
You will need to create a box that wraps around the egg with as much cushion as possible. I would take the straws and box in the eggs with several layers. There a number of ways to help protect the egg. It would be a lot easier if you could use more items the just the straws.
Materials such as bubble wrap, foam padding, cotton balls, and shredded paper can provide cushioning to protect an egg when dropped. Additionally, using materials like a sturdy box or container to house the egg during the drop can help distribute the impact energy and prevent the egg from breaking.
You will need: 1. a pantyhose 2. a box 3. staples 4. scissors 5. rubber bands 6. tape (preferably duct tape) 7. Styrofoam peanuts 8. the egg Instructions 1. cut the pantyhose in half and stick the egg inside one leg so it is in the middle 2. tie the rubber bands around the egg and pantyhose 3. poke holes in the box 4. slip the pantyhose through the box holes 5. wrap the pantyhose tight around the box and staple it until the egg ends up in the middle of the box 6. fill the box with Styrofoam peanuts 7. duct tape the box over the top and over the hole 8. throw it to the ground and see what happens.
