You can't cure herpes. You can only treat the symptoms with medication.
Herpes is a large family of viruses. The answer is the same for all of them - you don't remove it, either the infection runs its course and is cleared, or not. The hallmark of the herpes family is the tendency for infections to be partially cleared by the immune system and for a resevoir of the virus to be found in a dormany state alongside peripheral nerve cells. This causes both the repeating oubreaks of sores from some varieties and "shingles" late in life for many who had "chicken pox" in their youth.
There are antiviral treatments intended to assist in clearing the active phase of infection and to help prevent outbreaks, but a cure remains to be found. There is a vaccine for chicken pox that may prevent or lessen the severity and duration of outbreaks of shingles. Vaccine trials for other herpes family viruses have not yet demonstrated efficacy in clinical trials.
