I don't know how to de-activate the entire alarm system, but disconnecting the speaker (so that the alarm is silent) is easy. Simply lift the hood and identify the speakers at the very back (if I remember correctly, each looks kind of like a tuba; you can't miss them). Somewhere very close to them is a plug. Unplug it and the alarm will no longer sound. The car will still go into anti-theft mode by blinking lights and refusing to start until you lock the doors; you just won't hear anything.

You can find an air conditioner for a 1994 Volvo 850 on Ebay. The Volvo 850 was designed by Jan Wilsgaard. There have been 1,360,522 units made between the years 1991 and 1997.
The 1997 Volvo 850 low pressure port is located on the air conditioning compressor. The low pressure port will be on the right hand side of the compressor.
The alarm is under the hood next to firewall in the center, it looks sorta like a round horn.
The 1997 Volvo 850 evaporator drain tube is located on the bottom of the air conditioner compressor. The evaporator drain tube carries condensation away from the engine.
