Simple answer - by obeying the law instead of 'pushing it,' and by being calm, respectful, and in control of your emotions any time you are in contact with the police. Remember - the officer has never seen you before in their life and when he walks up to your car, has no idea whom or what he is dealing with.

If the police came out and made a report of it then it will be on your driving record. It will be a not-at-fault accident but it will still be on your driving record. If the police did not come out but your insurance knows about it then it will be on your CLUE report and be a not-at-fault accident.
